April Fool’s Day Raffle Drawing
The raffle turned out to be a very good success. We raised right at $200 towards our Thrift Store Fund. The man that won the laptop was very surprised and extremely happy. I am so sorry it has taken such a long time to post the videos and the winners name. It was a very painful month with all the rain that we’ve been having here in Oregon USA.
Here is the video where Jerry shook the container up that held the tickets. Jerry makes sure that the container was well shook up.
Then Brianna his youngest daughter did the picking of the winning ticket Brianna was rewarded with a Dr. Pepper for her participation in our drawing. She was a very happy little girl to say the least.
Mike Ortiz was the winner and as he was returning from his road trip to California we surprised him with a April Fool’s type of call that ended with him being informed that he was indeed the winner. Check out his reaction when he recieved his prize.

A quick guide to easily guarantee you an income very quickly
With any worthwhile project you will need to spend a little bit of time and effort to get it going. There is nothing that I have found on the internet that is a simple push 1 button and the money flows so fast you can not spend it fast enough so get that idea right out of your head. The simple truth is that you will need to fill out some forms and you may even need to copy & paste HTML code but in all my time online this is explained in detail 98% of the time. Once you’ve done it a few times it is like riding a bike. It takes time to build your confindence up so that it becomes second nature such as breathing or eating the right types of food.
Veteran’s Corner
A place for the Veterans of America
Many times we as veterans need a bit of help in our every day lives after serving our country. Here is a few links (more to be added) to help the veteran and families.
The main Veteran’s Administration is a very good place to start. Be sure to bookmark this and others for future reference. The Veterans Pension program for those seeking to apply or needing more information about the benefits. My Health E Vet is a fairly new program designed to give the veteran a way to access his or her medical records if they are a patient at a VA medical center. This is a membership type site that requires the proper information in order to join. Veterans Crisis Hotline is a place to vent and get help when you feel there is no place left or anyone that will listen to you. Confidential Online Chat for Veterans in case you don’t want to talk on the phone.
Charity Links
Charities on the internet
While searching the internet I found a couple of interesting sites that I would like to share with you. First is Cars For Veterans which actually does not give cars to Veterans but the money that is collected from the auction of the donated car goes to help veterans but at the time that I write this post I am not sure just who they actually support but will dig into this subject a bit more and write an update as soon as possible.
Cars for Charity does actually have a new project that they are putting into action. They accept requests through a form to be on a waiting list. This is because they get donations from all over the country and remember this a donated car so they want to make sure the car is in good working order before they give it to a person and then it needs a lot of repair work. The cars do not come in all that quickly so please don’t expect a quick car. I am still investigating and hope to be able to provide a link to the form in case you would like to apply.
Network Security
How often do you seriously think about the security of your home computer? Do you feel that you are safe behind a simple firewall or even an expensive one with antivirus but then you use WiFi in your home because it is easier to share with the rest of the family? Well you may want to read more of this article and others that will be posted here over the coming months. Continue reading
A Dying Young Man’s Dream
In Phoenix , Arizona , a 26-year-old mother stared down at her 6 year old son, who was Dying of terminal leukemia.
Although her heart was filled with sadness, she also had a Strong feeling of determination.
Like any parent, she wanted her son to grow up and fulfill all his dreams. Now that was no longer possible.
The leukemia would see to that. But she still wanted her son’s dream to come true.
She took her son’s hand and asked,
‘Billy, did you ever think about what you wanted to be once you grew up ? Did you ever dream and wish what you would do with your life ?’
Mommy, ‘I always wanted to be a fireman when I grew up.’
Mom smiled back and said, ‘Let’s see if we can make your wish come true.’
Later that day she went to her local fire Department in Phoenix , Arizona , where she met Fireman Bob, who had a heart as big as Phoenix .
She explained her son’s final wish and asked if it might be possible to give her 6 year-old son a ride around the block on a fire engine.
Fireman Bob said, ‘Look, we can do better than that. If you’ll have your son ready at seven o’clock Wednesday morning, we’ll make him an honorary Fireman for the whole day. He can come down to the fire station, eat with us, go out on all the fire calls, the whole nine yards !
And if you’ll give us his sizes, we’ll get a real fire uniform for him, with a real fire hat – not a toy onewith the emblem of the Phoenix Fire Department on it, a yellow slicker like we wear and rubber boots.’
‘They’re all manufactured right here in Phoenix , so we can get them fast.’
Three days later Fireman Bob picked up Billy, dressed him in his uniform and escorted him from his hospital bed to the waiting hook and ladder truck.
Billy got to sit on the back of the truck and help steer it back to the fire station. He was in heaven.
There were three fire calls in Phoenix that day and Billy got to go out on all three calls.
He rode in the different fire engines, the Paramedic’s’ van, and even the fire chief’s car. He was also videotaped for the local news program.
Having his dream come true,
with all the love and attention that was lavished upon him, so deeply touched Billy, that he lived three months longer than any doctor thought possible.
One night all of his vital signs began to drop dramatically and the head nurse, who believed
in the hospice concept – that no one should die alone, began to call the family members to the hospital.
Then she remembered the day Billy had spent as a Fireman, so she called the Fire Chief and
asked if it would be possible to send a fireman in uniform to the hospital to be with Billy as he made his transition..
The chief replied, ‘We can do better than that. We’ll be there in five minutes. Will you please do me a favor ?
When you hear the sirens screaming and see the lights flashing, will you announce over the PA system that there is not a fire? ‘It’s the department coming to see one of its finest members one more time. And will you open the window to his room?
About five minutes later a hook and ladder truck arrived at the hospital and extended its ladder up to Billy’s third floor open window ——–
16 fire-fighters climbed up the ladder into Billy’s room!
With his mother’s permission, they hugged him and held him and told him how much they LOVED him.
With his dying breath, Billy looked up at the fire chief and said, ‘Chief, am I really a fireman now?’
‘Billy, you are, and The Head Chief,
Jesus, is holding your hand,’ the chief said.
With those words, Billy smiled and said, ‘I know, He’s been holding my hand all day, and the angels have been singing.’
He closed his eyes one last time.
My instructions were to share this to at least four people that I wanted God to bless and I picked you.
Please pass this along to people you want to be touched &blessed.
This story is powerful and there is nothing attached.
Uplifting stories are one of the best gifts we receive. There is no cost, but a lot of rewards, so let’s continue to uplift one another~
Veteran Services
Veteran’s medical centers
The local medical center for area in & around Medford, Oregon is located in White City, Oregon. The are open 5 days a week between the hours of 8 am – 4 pm PST.
The phone number is 541-826-2111
There is a medical center located in Roseburg, Oregon and Portland, Oregon as well. Personally I have not spent much time at either. I will post the addresses and phone numbers as soon as I have them.
Kudos for the staff at the medical center
The staff at the medical center is doing the best they can since they are short handed and the President has made so many cuts in their budget. Up till recently I personally have been receiving minimal care because I had not made very many requests since being given my 100% service connected disability status as a mentally disabled veteran caused by the Vietnam War.
The mental health staff at the White City, Oregon medical (rehabilitation) center has been extremely helpful with all my medical needs.
This is the first post of a series of articles I plan to post on this site.
